easyDNS To Be Dropped From Andy Lehrer Lawsuit

Pursuant to a settlement, easyDNS is being dropped by Andy Lehrer from the Tim O'Rourke / causepimps.ca defamation lawsuit.

Under the terms of the settlement easyDNS will not pay Mr. Lehrer anything and will remove the offending webpages / URLs upon a judicial finding that they are defamatory (something our Plain English Terms of Service says we will do anyway).

Somewhat reminiscent of the Seinfeld episode where Jerry pays a contractor a substantial sum of money to restore his kitchen to its exact pre-reno state, we feel we've still gotten the short end of the stick in this comedy. After … Read the rest

Is Rogers Throttling VPN Connections?

Update – April 3/2015

I’m not so sure about this anymore. Since writing this article I had a Rogers tech over and he replaced the cable in the back yard. My Rogers connection is now a lot faster. > 30Mb/sec download. My A/B tests between VPN and no VPN are roughly the same since. I’ve seen some links to this post out there so I should mention my latest findings.

Step 1: Think up some idea for a feature.

Have your team use this tag cloud to assemble a “feature mash-up” which looks like it could drive value through the startup life cycle. Remember, you’re #1 job is to be featureful, provide a rich user experience and drive value throughout the entire vertical you are about to make-up define.

The time I almost invented Shazam

Screen Shot 2015-01-23 at 1.02.27 PM   Many years ago I was ostensibly on the advisory board of a company called “Predixis”, (later MusicIP). They were a service that had digitized a boatload of music and their raison d’etre was to be able to predict, based on what songs were in your library, what other songs you would like.

Try as I might I could never really get galvanized around this idea. It worked ok. I ran my band The Parkdale Hookers through it and it came back with The D4. That was well done, when we went into the the studio to record the first … Read the rest
